The hailstorm followed other extreme weather conditions that swept through Western Canada, with Alberta and British Columbia under extreme heat warnings for much of last week, with temperatures reaching 40C in some areas.

Parts of the county were pelted with hail the size of a softball, measuring about 10 centimeters, while other areas saw hail the size of baseballs, tennis balls or nickels falling from the sky.
